Over the last months, the construction site of the Apple Museum has undergone a remarkable transformation. Where there was once only bare concrete, loose cables, and empty walls, the outlines of the Apple Museum are now coming into focus. Step by step, the building is shifting from a shell of potential into a place where history will soon come alive, with expected opening to be early 2026.
Building the Gateway to the Apple Museum
The staircase is where every visit to the Apple Museum begins. But it wasn’t always there. In fact, the building originally had no staircase at all. To create it, our construction crew had to cut a hole in the existing floor, carefully adjusting the ceiling and rerouting piping that stood in the way. Once the space was prepared, the staircase itself was delivered through the terrace in separate pieces. On-site, each section was assembled and installed, transforming a once solid floor into the elegant entryway that now guides visitors into the museum.
The First Rooms Emerge
With the essential infrastructure in place – climate control, lighting, and electricity – the focus has shifted to shaping the atmosphere of the museum itself. The staircase now links the floors, while the new façade gives the building its distinctive character. Inside, shelving units and glass panels have been installed in the library and museum shop, and even the toilets are fully fitted and functional. A temporary office has been set up on-site to guide the finishing phase.
Most excitingly, the first exhibition rooms are beginning to take form. Our set builder has started constructing the earliest sections, beginning with the Apple I and Apple II. The first walls are already standing, instantly giving shape to what was once only a vision.
A Buzz of Activity in the Depot
Away from the main site, our depot is buzzing with activity. Here, the museum’s collection is being stored, restored, and prepared for display. Over the last years, our volunteers have been carefully gathering, repairing, and testing the devices that will one day fill the galleries. Now, these machines are being readied for their final destination.
From decorative walls to server setups, from fragile transparent Mac prototypes to rugged visitor-ready models, every detail is receiving attention. Piece by piece, room by room, the museum is drawing closer to completion. It is a monumental effort — but seeing the dream take shape makes the journey all the more rewarding.
We cannot wait to open the doors and welcome you inside.
